Program Mission

To assist the Southeast Asian (SEA) communities achieve self-sufficiency through business ownership. The main area of focus is giving assistance in areas such as industry research, feasibility studies, completion of business plans, loan pre-qualification, and other services that can help an individual to successfully start, maintain, or expand a business venture.


Key Services Offered

·        Outreach services include promotional activities and advertisements targeted to the SEA community, through SEA radio and SEA community journals;

·        Community outreach workshops (orientations) introduce participants to the program and explain how the Micro-Enterprise Development Program can support their efforts to begin or expand a small business; business concept money changing hands clip art

·        One-on-one counseling and assessment help to screen candidates, determine training needs, and assist participants in accessing resources;

·        Interactive skills workshops provide participants with valuable skills, knowledge, and tools in maintaining or expanding a business operation.

·        Referrals to other programs, professionals, banks and organizations are made, as appropriate, to assist participants in addressing obstacles in order to successfully manage their start-ups or existing businesses;

·        Liaison with agencies and financial partners includes pre-approving participants for loans and facilitating meetings with loan officers, businesses and government agencies;

·        Home repair and lead abatement training teaches skills in lead abatement, drywall installation and repair, providing income while participants also receive training to begin their own businesses; And

·        An Entrepreneurs’ Roundtable, facilitated by the Program Manager, provides ongoing peer and professional support to new and continuing business owners.

The Hmong American Friendship Association, Inc has established relationships with private and public funding sources to provide financial assistance to qualified entrepreneurs. Talk with the Program Manager to find out what funding sources are available to you.

The Small Business Development Program is designed to meet the needs of Southeast Asian community. The Program Manager has extensive experience in business, will work with you to develop, plan, and start your own small business.

 

Workshops

Starting your own business, or expanding your current business can be a very rewarding and challenging investment. It can also be confusing and difficult.

 

Our Program Manager will show you the process of starting a business, assist you in developing a business plan, and refer you for services.

Take your first step on the road to financial independence by attending a Small Business Development Workshop.
