Case Management and Referral

The case manager is responsible for conducting intake and comprehensive assessment of client, with a holistic review of family needs and resources. The case manager is also responsible to counsel individuals and/or families. Appropriate referral to community-wide and in-house services is a critical feature, and the case manager will follow-up to ensure effective service delivery. The Refugee Family Strengthening Program has a working relationship with the following agencies:

  • Domestic Abuse Shelters
  • District Attorney’s Offices
  • Victim Witness Services
  • Hmong Mutual Assistance Associations
  • Healthcare Providers
  • Child Protective Services

Women Support Group. This group is offered in 2 series of six weeks each. The group will determine how often they will meet, once a month or every other week, for three hours per session. Childcare is provided. Participants are expected to attend one series, and may continue with second series if she wishes to do so. After each series participants will go a on field trip to a location determined by the participants. Those with special needs will have access to one-on- one counseling, and we may divide the group as needed.

Bilingual Batterer’s Treatment Program: This group is offered in two series of 20 weekly sessions for 2 hours each (1st five months, July break, 2nd five months). Participants may volunteer, but most are court mandated through referrals from the court and District Attorney’s Office. In order to allow ongoing access to the program, we have open enrollment, but they must complete 20 week of sessions. Curriculum addresses cultural differences, power and control, male and female roles in the U.S., domestic violence laws, accountability, alternatives to violence, etc.
